Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 6, 2026

Be With God (“we,” “our,” or “the service”) is a contemplative web experience that guides centering prayer. This policy explains what information is handled when you use bewithgod.app (and related domains), and what we deliberately do not collect.

Who this applies to

This policy applies to visitors and users of the Be With God website and any future installable or native versions that load the same experience.

Summary

  • We do not require an account and we do not sell personal data.
  • Your sacred word, if you enter one, stays on your device and is never sent to our servers or analytics.
  • We store a simple practice history on your device so the prayer glow can reflect your consistency.
  • While you pray, we may process an anonymous temporary session so we can show how many others are resting in silence.
  • We use Google Analytics 4 for aggregated usage patterns, and we honor Do Not Track where your browser requests it.

Information on your device (local storage)

The service may store data in your browser’s local storage or similar storage, including:

  • Sacred word — only if you type or select one; used to display during prayer on that device. It is not transmitted to us.
  • Practice history (e.g. completion dates and counts) — used only to set the personal “radiance” of the visual orb; remains on your device.
  • Preferences — for example first-visit settings, briefing preferences, or home-screen install nudges.
  • Presence session id (session storage) — a random identifier used only to start/end your contribution to the live “people praying” count during a session.

You can clear this at any time by clearing site data for bewithgod.app in your browser or device settings. Doing so resets practice glow history and preferences on that device.

Anonymous presence (“others resting in silence”)

When you begin a prayer session, the service may send an anonymous random session identifier to our servers (hosted via Vercel and Upstash Redis) so we can count active sessions. We periodically refresh that session while you pray and remove it when you end or after a short inactivity period (on the order of a few minutes).

This count is aggregate: we do not ask for your name, email, or profile, and we do not display who is praying. Session identifiers are not used to build a durable advertising profile.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-8FTTN8QNJP) to understand how the service is used in aggregate—for example, that a prayer session began or completed, approximate duration choices, and similar product events. We configure analytics with IP anonymization where offered, and we disable Google advertising personalization signals for this property.

Do Not Track: if your browser’s Do Not Track (or equivalent) setting is enabled, we do not send standard page-view tracking configuration for analytics as implemented on the site.

We do not send the content of your sacred word to analytics—only, where relevant, a boolean such as whether a word was set.

Google’s processing of data is also governed by Google’s policies. You can learn more about Google Analytics and controls in Google’s documentation and your browser settings.

Server logs and infrastructure

Like most websites, our hosting providers (for example Vercel) may process technical data such as IP address, timestamps, request paths, and user-agent strings for security, reliability, and rate limiting. We do not use those logs to identify people for marketing.

Cookies

The core prayer experience relies primarily on local/session storage rather than first-party marketing cookies. Third-party analytics (Google) may use cookies or similar technologies as described in Google’s documentation, subject to your browser settings and Do Not Track as noted above.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data through means we did not intend, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Retention

  • Local practice and preferences — until you clear site data or uninstall/clear the browser profile.
  • Presence sessions — short-lived (minutes), automatically expired.
  • Analytics — retained according to our Google Analytics property settings and Google’s retention options.

Your choices

  • Clear local site data to remove practice history and preferences on that device.
  • Enable Do Not Track / limit tracking in your browser.
  • Use browser or OS controls to block third-party cookies where available.
  • Simply leave the site; silence requires no account.

Third-party services

We may rely on:

  • Vercel — hosting and serverless APIs
  • Upstash — ephemeral presence state (and related infrastructure used by the project)
  • Google Analytics — usage analytics
  • Google Fonts — font delivery (which may receive a technical request when fonts load)

Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the service after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
